The Crop Insurance Associate is a customer focused role delivering effective insurance services to assure continued organizational growth and profitability in the crop insurance area. This role would provide quality, professional service to meet and/or exceed customer expectations. Good working knowledge of crop insurance policies and their application is key, as is -in-depth knowledge of crop insurance processing software and quoting software used. This role would also prepare market analysis and marketing plans with minimal supervision and assist in the presentation of risk management education with other agents and/or local market representatives. This role collaborates across the Farm Advisory Services team and across business units to develop a strong understanding of Farm Credit Easts’ products and services to provide valuable solutions to customer' financial and business needs. Those successful in the role have a demonstrated ability to work with customers to build rapport, confidence and sense of value.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Expands existing customer relationships to achieve growth targets
  • Identifies and create relationships with new customers
  • Seeks and vets crop insurance opportunities
  • Promotes the FCE brand in their marketplace
  • Builds and nurtures Centers of Influence to generate external referrals
  • Utilizes the 360-degree view of the customer to generate, or act upon, internal referrals to or from credit and financial services
  • Develops expertise and working knowledge within Ag segments, serving as a Trusted Advisor
  • Embraces the transformation of the Association through adoption and utilization of new processes, procedures, and digital tools with the intent to deliver a high-level customer experience 


Crop Insurance and Policy Servicing

  • Maintains and promotes industry leading product knowledge and expertise in crop insurance through one-on-one and group presentations
  • Assists other team members with risk management education
  • Assures all product processing is completed timely, accurately, and within regulatory compliance by assisting and training customers in the completion of required applications, acreage, and production report

 

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agri-Business, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of the job. The successful candidate must obtain Property and Casualty License within the first six months of employment.
  • Agriculture, environmental or sales experience. Insurance license helpful but not required for hire.
  • We offer hybrid work options after two weeks of employment with Farm Credit East. Hybrid work options are determined based on job role and balancing the needs of the customers, the team, and individual work performance. This will be reviewed based on manager discretion.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $58,000 to $75,000 commensurate with experience
  • Short-Term Incentive to reward business results
  • Retirement Contributions :
    • 401k match up to 6% of salary; or for those unable to take full advantage of the 401(k) match, verified student loan payments may qualify for an employer match in your 401(k) up to 6% of salary
    • Defined Contribution retirement plan funded at 2-9% of salary depending on years of service
  • Time Off:
    • 15-25 days of vacation leave per year, depending on years of service
    • 12 days of holiday leave per year
    • 7.5 days of sick leave in your first year, followed by 12 days of sick leave per year thereafter; unlimited rollover of unused sick leave year to year
    • Paid Parental Leave: Up to 80 hours of paid leave for birthing, non-birthing, and adoptive parents
    • Family Care Leave: Additional leave options available under FMLA and company policy
