The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Emergency Department Tech assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients. The Tech provides care under the direction of RN/LPN/MD utilizing the skills and techniques established within the job description.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs and Documentation

Preferred:

• 1 year patient care experience

Certifications and Licenses:

• BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Days
• Per Diem
• Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

• Answers telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel/family
• Applies knee immobilizer, splints, slings, and ace bandages and assists with ambulation techniques
• Assists with nutritional needs of patients under supervision of RN
• Assists with patient positioning and repositioning as required
• Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individual
• Completes personal hygiene for patients
• Complies with unit and department scheduling
• Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department
• Initiates cardiac monitoring and performs 2 lead EKG
• Performs phlebotomy and point of care testing
• Prepares emergency equipment at bedside ie.; suction, oxygen, IV equipment
• Records patient intake and output
