Job Description

Position Title: Controller

Location: Bethesda, MD (on-site, 5 days per week)

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $160,000 – $180,000 annual salary (flexible up to $200,000 for highly qualified candidates)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description

Addison Group is partnering with a well-established, family-owned organization seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of two high-volume business entities. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing strategic financial guidance to executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with strong leadership abilities, advanced Excel proficiency, and a track record of success managing complex accounting operations in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and collections.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow to support business goals.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls, financial policies, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Partner with other departments to maintain clear communication and operational alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA certification required (or active progress toward completion).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing AP, AR, GL, and financial reporting for a high-volume organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting and ERP software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate or property management industries is preferred.
